About Chris Hughes
Chris has been actively involved in outdoor pursuits for over 30 years initially as a freelance instructor and then in 2006, he set up CHMAS to provide outdoor activity instruction. Chris holds national governing body awards in caving and mine exploration, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, single pitch rock climbing, summer & winter mountain walking and is an International Mountain Leader (IML). In addition to these technical qualifications, Chris is an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute of Outdoor Learning (APIOL), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner, a Rescue & Emergency Care (REC) and QNUK first aid trainer and he is also an approved expedition assessor for the DofE. As well as running CHMAS, Chris also makes himself available for freelance work which means he has opportunities to pick up new ideas and techniques. In his spare time he is a hill walking and climbing assessor for the Scout Association, the Scouts Wales Climbing Advisor and he regularly volunteers at the Yr Hafod Activity Centre in North Wales.
About Janet Hughes
Janet is a the co-founder of CHMAS and her main passion is mountain walking both in the UK and abroad. She holds the Lowland Leader Award and is approved expedition assessor for the DofE. She also has various roles in the company and is heavily involved with the planning of our EYFS and Key Stage 1 & 2 programmes.
About Ceila Dallaway
Ceila is qualified teacher and holds several outdoor instructing awards Mountain Leader, Rock Climbing Instructor, Level 4 Kayak Coach and Level 3 Canoe Coach to name but a few. She is a key member of the team and acts as our water sports and DofE specialist.
About Martin Callaghan
Martin is our Technical Expert for our climbing activities. He is a qualified teacher and holds several outdoor instructing awards, Mountain Leader, Rock Climbing Instructor, Climbing Wall Development Instructor and he is also Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor. Chris and Martin regularly climb together so they have shared one or two adventures both in the UK and further afield. He will be acting as our climbing and mountaineering specialist as well as helping out on our Mountain Training Courses.
About Sioned Hughes
Sioned is our assistant instructor when her studies permit and is our chief activity tester, maker of tea and helps with our social media presence. She is a keen climber and mountaineer and can often be seen on the water on a SUP or in a canoe.
About Ray Goodwin
Ray Goodwin is our Technical Advisor for the majority of our activities and is a well respected and experienced mountaineer (MIC) and paddle sport coach (BCU Level 5 in Canoe, Inland Kayak and Sea). About Alan Braybrooke
Alan Braybrooke is our Technical Advisor for our caving activities and is well respected and experienced cave leader (CIC). He also holds a host paddle sport qualifications, rock climbing and mountain biking qualifications and is an International Mountain Leader (IML).
